About Us

Established in 1998, IdeaFundingTM is a Southern Arizona region tradition. Its long term commitment to advance and stimulate entrepreneurial capacity and opportunity has positioned it as the regions premier networking, business integration, and knowledge sharing events.

Your family and friends have told you that they are maxed out and have no more money to invest; your spouse has told you not to charge anything else to the family credit cards; your home equity line is being used for the kids’ college education; your vendors won’t extend any more credit; and your customers won’t pay in advance. Who do you turn to? A venture capitalist? An angel investor? A lending institution? What are each of these funding sources looking for in a potential investment or client?

Starting and running a business in today’s complex world is more complicated than ever. The decisions you make today will profoundly influence, your future, your future growth, funding opportunities, and profitability. It is essential that you start out on the right foot.

IdeafundingTM is a non-profit organization whose goal is to assist entrepreneurs, researchers and scientists in identifying and accessing the alternative sources of capital available to them in the Southern Arizona marketplace. We aim to educate and unite investors, entrepreneurs, and scientists to encourage new businesses and ventures in Southern Arizona to help increase economic growth. IdeaFundingTM works to enhance participants’ knowledge through workshops and seminars hosted by professionals in their respective industries. In addition, IdeaFundingTM gives useful suggestions regarding business plan content and how to turn an idea into reality.

An added objective is to help encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in high school students. This is done by donating a percentage of the proceeds to the High School Venture fund. This fund is potentially the only active fund of its kind available to high school students, and is dedicated to assisting local students develop entrepreneurial skills needed to start a small business.

Included in this annual one-day event are discussions and workshops, designed to help the attendees understand and learn what investors look for in a business. All sessions are led by top industry professionals, financial and professional experts on the topics that should be considered as you embark on your new enterprise. Attendees will start the day off by enjoying a networking session during the registration and breakfast period. After that the workshops begin and attendees will not only receive invaluable information on the various topics, but can also expect to hear success and failure “war stories” from local entrepreneurs, investors and other key professionals. During the luncheon keynote speakers address various issues of importance, and the Thomas R. Brown Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award is presented. The last session of the day concludes with a final discussion of the day’s events and key topics and a question and answer period.
